Weekend High Tea @ Paya Serai Hilton Petaling Jaya

Hilton Petaling Jaya is located in the heart of Petaling Jaya. It's coffee house Paya Serai serves weekend high tea every Saturday, Sunday and public holidays from 12.30 p.m. till 5 p.m. One weekend, we decided to give it a try after knowing for it's quality spread.

We reached the restaurant at 1 p.m and headed to the counter of the restaurant. We were greeted and the friendly staff brought us to our seat. Without wasting time, we toured the spread and soon we started to "hunt" for food.

Appetiser

Cold selection includes crab prawns and mussels. Sauce must be added on the mussels as it was tasteless when u eat it without anything.  Fortunately, the crab was alright. Besides that, appetiser also includes rojak buah , soups, salads etc. Satay is a must try. It was nicely grill and there was no fatty later in the meat. Eat the satay with peanut sauce and it will be even better.

Paya Serai also serves otak-otak (fish paste). Fish paste was tender and quality but it was cold. There was bread section that includes fresh baked bread with jam and butter. Of course, cheese was also a must.

Main course

There were Chinese , Malay and Indian station in this entire high tea. Many choice of malay food for me to choose and I guess Paya Serai coffee house is famous for that. Main course includes nasi lemak with condiments, peking duck, porridge with condiments , Roast Lamb , Roast Chicken , Prawn dishes etc. Seafood fried rice and fried rice noodles were served too.

There are many choice of curry to choose from. For example Chicken Curry, Fish Curry, Muton Curry, Beef Curry and a unique type of curry- Deer Curry. There were lots of sotongs in the sambal sotong and it was not very spicy. Fried chicken drummets looks nice but it was somehow not up to standard as it still have blood insides the meat near the bones.

Lamb

Overall, the lamb was very tasty. It was fresh and been cooked using teppanyaki style. Once the cooked lamb is finished, the chef on duty will open a new packet of fresh raw marinated lamb and start cooking it to assured its quality. You will need to add some lamb gravy to bring out the taste and of course mint sauce too.

Deserts

Deserts include varieties of cakes, pudding , pastry, pancake and ice cream. Sadly, I do not have any pictures of the deserts. There is a chocolate fountain in the middle of the coffee house for you to dip marshmallows and some fruits. Fruits selection includes honey dew, sun melon, watermelon. Since it's the jack fruit season, Paya Serai also served jack fruit that day. After having many rounds of main course, i decided to have a stick of ice cream potong. I was disappointed because the fridge broke down and all the ice cream inside melted and was left just liquid.

Drinks

Guava and orange juice was served that day. There are also teh tarik and coffee on the spread. I didn't like the teh tarik as it was too sweet.

We were impressed with the spread and the quality of the food. We do highly recommend people to try this weekend high tea.  The Paya Serai high tea is priced at RM 88 nett per person.
